STELLA MARIS - A small private aircraft was yesterday forced to crash land at the Stella Maris airport.

According to officials on the island, a single engine Bonanza aircraft left Tallahassee, Florida enroute to the island, with a woman passenger on board. While attempting to land on the runway at around 2:30pm, the aircraft skidded causing the landing gear to collapse.

The plane later came to rest on the side of the runway. The right wing had minor damage. Police reported that no one was hurt.
