A POLICEMAN denied allegations against him concerning the stabbing of two Defence Force officers at Arawak Cay over the holiday weekend.

Constable 2872 Derrick Gittens, 29, of Lakeview Road, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez yesterday facing two counts of “causing grievous harm” that allegedly occurred on May 20, Whit Monday.

It is claimed that he stabbed Alfred McKenzie and Decaldo Pratt.

On the day in question, around 12:30am, three men were at Arawak Cay when they got into an argument, allegedly over a woman.

It resulted in McKenzie and Pratt being stabbed multiple times in the chest and back. Constable Gittens pleaded not guilty to both charges yesterday and was granted $6,000 bail with a surety and reporting conditions to the Carmichael Road police station.

He appears in Magistrate’s Court no.10 on May 27 to be given a trial date.

He has retained Devard Francis to defend him.
