Two men gunned down in night of violence

Police are currently investigating two more murders that occurred, last night.

According to reports, the first incident took place shortly after 6pm in the area of the Haitian Village, west of Dignity Gardens.

A 21-year-old man of Excellence Estates is the victim.

He was standing near a home when he was approached by another man, who shot him in his upper body.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but he died shortly after 7pm.

The second murder took place at about 9.44pm at Cordeaux Avenue off East Street. Early reports suggest that the male victim was standing in front of a home on Cordeaux Avenue when he was approached by the occupants of a silver vehicle. One man got out of the vehicle and fired gunshots, hitting the victim in his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

Further details were not available up to press time.

These latest two incidents bring the country’s count to 46, in five months.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on these incidents - or on anyone who may possess illegal firearms - to contact police anonymously at 911, 919, 322-333/4 or Crimestoppers on 328-TIPS.
