Man shot in his sleep

FREEPORT – A 27-year-old woman has been detained and is assisting Grand Bahama Police with their investigations into an attempted murder.

According to reports, police were told at around 10:30pm on Wednesday that a man with gunshot wounds in his head was at the Rand Memorial Hospital.

Inspector Terecita Pinder said the 42-year-old Freeport resident had fallen asleep at a home in Coral Gardens and was later awakened by another man, who told him that he had wounds on his head and hand.

The injured man was taken by private vehicle to the hospital. Doctors examined him and determined that his injuries were critical.

Inspector Pinder said the victim was airlifted to New Providence at around 2:30am yesterday to undergo surgery at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
