Third man charged after double shooting death

A THIRD man was arraigned yesterday in connection with the Whit Monday shooting death of two men, which was followed by the attempted murder of three others and a chase and shoot-out with police.

Rashad Clarke, 21, of Montgomery Avenue, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez facing multiple charges to which he was not required to enter a plea.

These included two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

His co-accused, 18-year-old Sean Higgs of Peardale and 22-year-old Carlon Rolle of Price Street, were arraigned last Friday on the same charges with additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition possession.

It is claimed that they committed the crimes on Monday, May 20 and their case is set to be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial.

It is alleged that the trio murdered Amati ‘Mati’ Knowles and Roderick Telemis, then attempted to murder Anthony Roache, Larnado Wilson and Arlington Stubbs while being in possession of a Spikes Tactical M .223 rifle and bullets for the weapon.

Rolle and Clarke are separately accused of having shot at a police officer, putting him endanger of his life.

The case will be forwarded to the Supreme Court on June 27.

Clarke was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until completion of trial. He was no eligible for bail.
