THE boyfriend of the 35-year-old woman, who was brutally killed with her 14-year-old daughter Wednesday morning has been named as the main suspect in their murders.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said the 31-year-old man is officially a “suspect” and is in police custody.
“We are talking to him. We are trying to clear some things up but, yes, he is a suspect and he is in custody,” he confirmed.
Supt Paul Rolle, Officer in Charge of the Central Detective Unit, said that despite having two men in custody police are “still trying to determine what happened” and are “not at the stage to charge anyone.”
Anchinique Berry and her daughter Indiana Forbes were shot “execution” style as they slept early Wednesday morning.
It happened around 5am at their Woods Alley home off Market Street.
According to initial police reports, the victims were at home when two masked men forced their way into the residence. The mother and daughter were shot while they slept in a back bedroom.
Another person, a 31-year-old man, identified as the mother’s boyfriend, is reported to have struggled with one of the gunmen and was also shot in the leg.
Police say he was able to escape and ran into the neighbour’s yard for help and to call the police.
However, when EMS personnel arrived, both mother and daughter were dead.
Sources say they were shot “execution style” each with a bullet to the head.
Police have also confirmed that Ms Berry’s other children, ages 4, 6 and 11 were also in the home at the time of the murder, but were unharmed. Sources say she worked as a chef at a popular restaurant at the Atlantis Resort.
Indiana was a 10th grade student at C C Sweeting Junior High.
Investigations are continuing.

THE HORSES ARE RUNNING BUT THEY ARE GROWING WEARY...and there are no fresh horses in the stable to replace them: when the decision was made to put the police on 12 hour shifts, one opinion was that that measure alone would not be enough to curb crime and that something must be done to ensure that persons arrested and charged by the police were brought before the courts in a swift manner and efforts must also be made to reduce the number of persons out on bail and receiving bail for serious crimes. BUT A LULL IN CRIME came shortly the police went on 12 hour shifts and both the minister of national security and "Da Bell", were all over the press saying that the step up in patrols and the increase in manpower (the 12 hour shifts increased the police manpower by almost 50%) were paying off handsomely and they felt that the crime monster was being tamed. The fact was that t was not. Like the bad boys say, "when 'da man get hot, we lay low". And now that they have learned to work their way around the increase in police presence and the increase in patrols the criminals are on the move again and crime levels are up close to if not what they were before the 12 hour shifts began. THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT POLICE are now complaining o weariness and fatigue ad being overworked and underpaid. Some are disgruntled. And the country s about to go into the Christmas festive season which is also a high season for crime. And no seems to be wanting to make the decision to release some (at least half) from the12 hour shifts and allow them to rest up for the holiday season. IF YOU HAVE 12 LITTLE PIGS IN A PEN and they are overcrowded, at one point it will not make a difference whether you have one farmer tending them or five. They are still gonna require the same amount of food and water, make the same amount of slop and as the crowding gets worse they will fight with and probably kill each other. LIKEWISE IN THIS COUNTRY, if we have a number of criminals operating in society it does not matter how many police you have on duty or how many crimes are detected and persons charged. But unless you start putting these criminals before the courts and getting them off the streets and out of society, NOT ON BAIL, AND NOT AWAITING TRIAL then there will be no significant decrease in crime. In the criminals mine, there is no penalty for committing a crime, or at least, no immediate one. The promise has been made that 10 (TEN) serious crime courts will be operating come January 2014. If this happens and the courts are efficient and the penalties stiff, we should see a significant decrease in crime by JUNE 2014.

There is no difference in the police being on a twelve hour shift than their usual shift because at no time does the police station closes. In a relay race it isnt how long one person carries the 'batoon' but how effective he runs his legs before swiftly handing over. Longer hours would never be the solution, however the swift transition of shifts would be more effective. Now there is still the reality of having the fastest runners on the track if you know what i mean, much more if they are running in the right direction. The same way it doesn't make sense to put a slow runner to run a longer distance is the same way it doesn't make sense to put an officer who cant gather proper evidence to work longer shifts.

The police could be on 24 hour shifts and you can,t stop crime like this .We hit ,slap ,shout at and degrade children in anger teaching them that violence is an accepted form of conflict resolution ,all under the guise of" spare the rod spoils the child " There are too many studies to list that show beating and hitting children in anger just makes them become violent adults ..I I see it everyday ,young mothers and fathers losing there tempers and threatening and hitting children b/c thats how they were raised .We really are in the dark ages w/ our child rearing habits and crime and violence will increase ,even the police beat the living sh@@t out of people ,,we have used "spare the rod spoil the child " to turn us into a physically violent people w/ force as our main means of conflict resolution ..
