BASKETBALL

NPBA ACTION

THE New Providence Basketball Association continued its 2013/14 regular season with a double header at AF Adderley Gym on Monday night.

In the opener, the College of the Bahamas Caribs stunned the Defence Force Marines 90-67, while the Real Deal Shockers blasted the Double R Services Limited Cleaners 106-86.

Roland Horton came off the bench and scored 21 points in 22 minutes and 20 seconds with three rebounds, Reuben Goodman had 18 points and Duran Fernander chipped in with 13 points in the win. In the loss, Otis Ferguson scored 21 points with nine rebounds and six assists, Blair Allen had 16 points and seven rebounds, Michael Ferguson had 16 points and four rebounds and Raynald Culmer had 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Shockers 106, Cleaners 86

Alexander Rolle came off the bench and posted 19 points with three rebounds, Floyd Armbrister had 17 points, Vernon Stubbs added 16 points with five rebounds, Salathiel Dean and Dipon McPhee both had 10 points with seven and six rebounds respectively, Ahmon Baker had nine points and six rebounds and Sidney Hillary chipped in with eight points in the win.

In the loss, the Cleaners got 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists from last year’s most valuable player Lenny Oscar, Dencil Edgecombe added 15 points with seven rebounds and Trevor Greene had 12 points and seven rebounds.

BAISS ACTION

THE Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools could wrap up its best-of-three championship series today at Freedom Farm, if the winners of game one on Monday are successful.

St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine rolled past the St Andrew’s Hurricanes in their match-ups in the junior girls and boys and senior girls divisions. However, the Charles W Saunders Cougars ruined their bid to take control of all four series by beating SAC’s senior boys 7-5. Game time is 4pm today.

JBLN REGISTRATION

THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau completed its registration and draft process for the 2014 season. The season is slated to begin on January 18 as the JBLN celebrates 25 years as the premier youth baseball and softball organisation in the Bahamas.

The 2014 season will feature a record number of 475 boys and girls and 39 teams playing organised baseball and softball.

TURKEY RUN

THE Bahamas Hot Rod Association is all set to hold its first Turkey Run on Sunday, December 1 at the newly constructed Bahamas International Raceway in the Queen Elizabeth Sporting Complex. There will be racing and a show and shine starting at 1:30pm.

Racing is slated to begin at 2:30pm. All cars, trucks, motorcycles and even boats are invited to be a part of the show and competition.
