TWO people, a man and woman, are being questioned in connection with the death of Kurt McCartney, the brother of DNA leader Branville McCartney, a police source confirmed yesterday.

Many feared that the case had grown cold after several people who were taken into custody not long after his death were released.

“Although we are questioning the two, we are still looking for suspects,” the source said, “members of the public are still urged to come forward with whatever information they have in this matter and others.”

McCartney, the son of Mr and Mrs William McCartney, was killed on the night of Thursday, October 24, more than three weeks ago.

According to family members at the time, his death followed a threatening phone call from a woman who said she would kill him.

He was said to have told a friend that he was going to “deal” with it and left to visit the woman in Gambier Village.

Relatives alleged that when he arrived at the home, he was assaulted by a man who was described as a “Rasta” and shot in the head.

It is believed that a young woman, with a female companion sped off in Mr McCartney’s vehicle – running over his body at the same time. The car was found almost 200 yards east of the scene – at the corner of Bahamia West — abandoned and on the side of the road.

According to a neighbour, security footage showed that two young women got out of Mr McCartney’s vehicle, walked along the beach, and were picked up by another car some distance up the road.

However, authorities said at the time that they had no knowledge of the security video footage.

Mr McCartney is survived by his parents, his brother Branville, and two sisters.
