BASEBALL

EBL REGISTRATION

THE Eleuthera Junior Baseball League of Rock Sound is all set to hold its 2014 registration day at the Primary School Baseball Park 10am to 4pm on Saturday. All interested parents are asked to bring their children to meet the coaches and pick up registration forms for the upcoming season. The league will also register girls between the ages of 12 and 17 to start a softball league during the baseball season.

The season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 8, 2014.

President Larry Forbes is inviting all other settlements to organise teams and enter the league for the 2014 season with boys’ baseball or girls’ softball teams. Interested persons may contact the president on Saturday at the park during the registration period.

VOLLEYBALL

NPVA ACTION

THE New Providence Volleyball Association played a double header at the DW Davis Gym on Sunday.

In the opener, the Scottsdale Vixens won over the Lady Techs in straight sets 25-7, 25-16 and 25-16 as Krystel Rolle led their attack with eight kills. Laval Sands had five aces, six digs and 16 assists.

In a losing effort, Rochelle Henfield finished with three kills and an ace. Sharon Whylly had six receptions and Melissa Richards had 17 assists.

The second match saw the Saints win over the Scotiabank Defenders in four sets.

CROSS COUNTRY

IN just three short years, the St John’s College Giants have established the SJC/TWD Athletics cross-country meet as one of the premier cross-country competitions during the season.,The competition is co-hosted with former SJC alumna and Olympian Tonique Williams.

The competition,is scheduled to begin noon Saturday, November 23 at Fort Charlotte. For schools, clubs, individuals and organisations who wish to register, they can call or visit the main office of SJC before Friday, November 22.

SAILING

CLUB REGATTA

CV Bethel Senior High School hosted its third annual Sailing Club Regatta on Sunday, November 17, at Montagu Beach. On hand was Minister of Transport V Alfred Gray, who congratulated the club for their involvement in the sport. Four D class boats took part. The boats were designed by Sheldon Gibson, a teacher at CV Bethel, who got the students involved by showing them how to build the boats themselves.

HEADER

THE PJCS Stingers held off the College of the Bahamas Caribs 84-79, while the Mail Boat Cybots knocked off the Y-Care Wreckers 84-66 as the New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular season at AF Adderley Gym on Monday night.

Devon Ferguson scored 16 points with seven rebounds to lead the PJCS to victory. Lloyd Smith had 13 points and four rebounds, Able Joseph had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Randy Williams had 10 points and Tavares Roker added nine points with eight assists and three rebounds.

In the loss, Reuben Goodman canned a game high 21 points with six rebounds, Glen Davis had 14 points, Earnal Monroe had nine points and 10 rebounds, Kirkwood Williams had nine points and seven rebounds and Roland Horton chipped in with eight points.

Cybots 84, Wreckers 66

Michael Bain exploded for 22 points with seven rebounds, Eugene Bain had 17 points and both Roosevelt Whylly and Robert Missick had 11 points each, including 13 and six points respectively. Kenneth Pratt contributed seven points.

Lashad Bullard led the losers with 14 points, Devardo Williams and Daniel Bullard both had 12 points with Williams adding five rebounds, Leon Bain had 10 points and Kessi Micial helped out with nine points and eight rebounds. Kevin Armbrister helped out with seven points and nine rebounds.

THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau completed its registration and draft process for the 2014 season. The season is slated to begin on January 18 as the JBLN celebrates 25 years as the premier youth baseball and softball organisation in the Bahamas. The 2014 season will feature a record number of 475 boys and girls and 39 teams playing organised baseball and softball. Visit their new website www.jblnbaseball.com for further details.

HOTROD

TURKEY RUN

THE Bahamas Hot Rod Association is all set to hold its first Turkey Run on Sunday, December 1 at the newly constructed Bahamas International Raceway in the Queen Elizabeth Sporting Complex.

There will be racing and a show and shine starting at 1:30pm.

Racing is slated to begin at 2:30pm. All cars, trucks, motorcycles and even boats are invited to be a part of the show and competition.
