FREEPORT - Three men, including a former police officer, were arraigned on firearm and ammunition possession charges in Freeport Magistrates Court yesterday.

Former police officer Deon Morris, 41, of No 2 Frobisher Drive; Prince Thompson, 29, of No 3 Garden Villas, and Kevin Stuart, 34, of Take Me Corner, Eight Mile Rock, appeared in Court Three before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones.

The men were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms with intent to supply, possession of ammunition with intent to supply, conspiracy to possess unlicenced firearms and conspiracy to possess ammunition.

On November 18, police conducted a search of a blue 2004 Chevrolet truck while at East Sunrise Highway and discovered three pistols with two magazines, containing 24 .45 rounds of ammunition.

Thompson pleaded guilty to all of the charges.

He was sentenced to four years for possession of firearms with intent to supply. He was also sentenced to four years on each of the conspiracy charges.

Magistrate Jones ordered Thompson to pay a $2,000 fine or be sentenced one year in prison for possession of ammunition with intent to supply.

All of the sentences are to run concurrently.

As a result, the charges against Morris and Stuart were dismissed. Attorney Carlson Shurland represented the trio.
