THE jury in the murder trial of a widow accused of plotting her husband’s death returns to court today having been excused from Supreme Court for two weeks because of legal discussions which had to take place in their absence.

Justice Roy Jones, having made a ruling on those discussions, yesterday told the 12-member jury to return on Tuesday, as he and attorneys in the case had not yet completed those discussions.

The Tribune understands that these discussions are critical to the proceedings against 43-year-old Renee Sherman and her co-accused.

Sherman, of Yamacraw Shores, along with 22-year-olds Janaldo Farrington and Cordero Bethel, both of Pinewood Gardens, are charged with conspiring to commit murder and aiding and abetting the murder of Stephen Sherman.

Mr Sherman, an assistant manager at the Royal Bank of Canada in Palmdale, was shot in the head when he pulled up to his Yamacraw Shores home on the evening of February 17, 2012.

He was robbed of his cell phone before being shot. His niece was also robbed.

Farrington and Bethel are together charged with his murder and the two armed robberies.

The trial began on September 3. However, after a day of testimony, legal discussions ensued in the absence of the jury.

All three accused are defended by Murrio Ducille, Krysta Mason-Smith and Nathan Smith.

Sandradee Gardiner and Viola Barnett are prosecuting for the Crown.

Sherman is on $20,000 bail while Farrington and Bethel are on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison.
