A HAITIAN man arraigned in connection with the death of his five-month old daughter is set to learn today if he will be granted bail.
Blounard Vedrine, 25, of Gregory Town, Eleuethera appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt, charged with manslaughter concerning the September 6 death of Berlendia Vedrine in Gregory Town.
Bruises were found on the child’s body at the time of her death.
The father was not required to enter a plea to the charge due to the nature of the offence and was told that his case would be forwarded to Supreme Court for trial through a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
When the issue of bail arose, the prosecution objected on the basis that the man has no status in the Bahamas other than a work permit that lasts until October 2014.
The magistrate stood down her decision on bail until today.
