YVES Edwards, 36, looks to regain a spot in the win column after he was recently added to the fight card of UFC Fight Night 31.

Edwards (42-20-1 MMA, 9-10 UFC) is slated to face Yancy Medeiros (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the undercard of UFC Fight Night 31, another in the line of “Fight For the Troops” shows. Medeiros, 26, is an American mixed martial artist from Hawaii.

The event is scheduled for November 6 at Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, with preliminaries aired on Facebook and the bulk of the card aired on FOX Sports 1.

Edwards has lost two consecutive fights via split decision and lost three of his last four. He looks to even his MMA record against the 26-year-old Medeiros in the lightweight division.

Medeiros made his UFC debut in April after compiling a 9-0 record. He previously fought as a 185-pound middleweight in the Strikeforce promotion, but came down to 155 pounds once he entered UFC. He lost his lone UFC bout to Rustam Khabilov in a first round TKO, forced to withdraw due to a dislocated left thumb.

The Edwards/Medeiros match will be one of five scheduled for the Facebook preliminary round which begins at 3:30pm.

Edwards suffered his second consecutive loss in July when Daron Cruickshank got the better of him on the judges’ scorecards at UFC on Fox 8.

Cruickshank, who was a late addition to the card after Spencer Fisher withdrew, received a 30-27 advantage from two judges while Edwards was scored 30-27 by the other.

A visibly upset and disgruntled Edwards left the fight abruptly following the announcement.

Prior to the Cruickshank fight, he lost by split decision to Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 156 in February.

Edwards’ last win came in December 2012 with a knockout win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 5.

Edwards is credited with inventing the “Thug-Jitsu” fighting style and as a lightweight fighter in organisations such as the UFC, PRIDE, Bodog-FIGHT, and EliteXC.

Based in Texas, Edwards is touted by MMA analysts as a well-rounded fighter with a strong boxing background. He has also trained with Lewis Wood, a sixth ranked WBA featherweight boxer, in addition to his experience in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
