Three held over marijuana finds by police officers

THREE men were taken into police custody in connection with separate marijuana finds over the weekend.

Shortly after 3pm on Friday, Southeastern Division officers, acting on intelligence, conducted a search of a Buttonwood Avenue, Pinewood Gardens home

They uncovered a quantity of suspected marijuana and two men, ages 42 and 20, were taken into custody for questioning.

On Saturday, shortly after 10.15am, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Prison Lane home.

Officers uncovered a quantity of suspected marijuana at that residence and a 22-year-old man was taken into custody for questioning.

All three men are expected to appear in court this week, police say.

In other crime news, a series of police operations over the weekend saw hundreds of citations and several arrests.

On Friday, officers of the Northeastern Division cited 121 drivers for various traffic violations and arrested two persons in connection with criminal offences, as part of the Police Force’s “saturation effort” intended to reduce crime.

Also Friday, Southeastern Division officers cited 41 drivers for various traffic violations and arrested two persons in connection with criminal offences.

On Saturday, officers from the Northeastern Division cited 52 drivers and arrested two persons in connection with criminal offences.

On Sunday, officers from the Northeastern and Southeastern Division cited 123 drivers and arrested three persons.
