ATLANTIS is close to completing renovations in its most iconic hotel – the Royal Towers – and officials at the mega-resort property couldn’t be happier with the upgrades, which have added more sophistication to the rooms and interior spaces.

Noting that the primary focus of the renovation was on the rooms, senior vice president of public affairs Ed Fields outlined some of the major changes made to the guest rooms and suites.

“The rooms have been revamped in terms of colour scheme and furniture changes to create a more modern, lush and inviting space. New cabinetry was also added to the bathrooms and topped with green marble vanities for added storage,” he said.

“Also, our guest rooms now have two sets of peepholes in the doors – regular height and a lower peephole for children or persons in wheelchairs. We want to keep our guests coming back year after year and so with these upgrades we’ll hopefully continue to give them that promised ‘blow away’ experience through our service and our product.”

The d�cor of the rooms takes on a more monochromatic style with soft hues of blue and grey, while the bright bolsters give contrast to the white bed linen. Muted tones in the carpet, bed skirt and drapes make for a more contemporary feel and soft, sheer drapery plays well with the natural light. The artwork maintains a tropical feel with seashell lithographs and framed sea fans. New 42-inch LG LED televisions have been installed and solid wood furniture with carved tropical leaves and cherry hues add an elegant flair.

In the bathrooms, mirrors have been framed in dark wood with mother of pearl inlay, accented with large decorative wall sconces. The bath/shower has a simple white shower curtain with a bright band of colourful crimson-orange and a curved shower rod for more shower space.

The other interior spaces of the hotel have also gotten a bit of a make-over with treatment done to flooring in common areas, including elevator landings where there is now plush new carpeting with a vibrant color palette, and a cozy seating area, which immediately gives an elegant, tropical ambiance. The colourful carpeting is balanced with black and white photography of seashells making for a perfect contrast.

The renovations came at a cost of some $8 million and provided employment for more than 100 Bahamians through the hiring of local contractors.
