Schooner Bay planners win top architect award

Schooner Bay Village’s town planners and architects, DPZ & Co, have been awarded an Addison Mizner Medal for excellence in Urbanism through their works in classical and traditional architecture.

The award, bestowed by the Florida chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, is one of the most prestigious in architecture.

In naming DPZ & Co as the recipient, the ICAA said it was “for their dedication to principles of Urbanism, enlightened expertise, the vision applied to Schooner Bay Village over the past seven years, and in the achievement of excellence in classical and traditional design in architecture”.

Schooner Bay Village was created, and has been developed, by community builder and long-time Bahamian resident, Orjan Lindroth, president of Lindroth Development Company (recipient of the 2012 Mizner Patron award).

The Addison Mizner Medal recognises excellence in the creation of 21st-century classical and traditional architecture and related fields. The awards are open to projects completed in the past 10 years by Florida Chapter members regardless of location, and all ICAA members who have completed projects in Florida and the Caribbean in the same period of time.
