Four charged with armed robbery

FREEPORT – Four Grand Bahama men were charged with armed robbery in the Freeport Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Darwish Whylly, 37; Stephenado Bethel, 31; Amos Francois, 32; and Mario Sawall, 28, appeared in Court Two before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones.

The accused men were charged with three counts of armed robbery and one count of stealing.

The charges are in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred last week in West End.

The four men were not required to enter a plea to the charges.

The matter was adjourned to February 6, 2014 when a preliminary inquiry will be held at the Eight Mile Rock Magistrate’s Court.

They were denied bail and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

Amos Francois and Mario Sawall were also charged in Court Three on additional armed robbery charges.

The men are accused of two counts of armed robbery. It is alleged that they robbed a business establishment on Coral Road on May 7.

Francois and Sawall were not required to enter a plea to the charges. The matter was adjourned until January 29, 2014 when a preliminary inquiry will be held in Court One before magistrate Debbye Ferguson.
