Gaming referendum consultancy work cost $351,849

PRIME Minister Perry Christie revealed in the House of Assembly last night that the total cost of the consultancy work on the Gaming Referendum was some $351,849 - and not the millions that had been hinted at by the Official Opposition.

Noting that his Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe will be empowered to speak on the matter in greater detail in the coming weeks, Mr Christie said that of that figure paid, $100,000 was covered by the casino operators, and the rest by the government.

Of the total figure, Dickson Wilson, consultants based in the UK, were paid 52,073 pounds ($84,168), and A & G Consulting of South Africa was paid $267,681.

Mr Christie promised that further details and breakdowns on the payments will be made in the House of Assembly next week.
