Minister Fitzgerald presents a monetary reward to Logan Brown of RM Bailey.

FIVE students from the National After School Art Programme received monetary rewards at a recent ceremony.

Education Minister Jerome Fitzgerald made the presentations to Bobby Telusnord of CI Gibson Senior High School; Logan Brown of RM Bailey Senior High School; Alton Joseph of CR Walker Senior High School; Jarette Stubbs of CI Gibson Senior High School and Krystal Major of CI Gibson Senior High School.

The paintings will be added to the ministry’s collection of artwork produced by students. The minister congratulated the students for the outstanding works of art that they produced.

He said he was privileged to have been afforded the opportunity to view the talent of so many students in a variety of areas.

He said: “Continue to be creative because there is money to be made in art as a profession or as a hobby. At the same time you will be helping to develop our culture.”

The Minister also pointed out the positive correlation between engaging in art and academia.

He commended the programme staff for giving so freely of their time to assist the students.

He also thanked the parents for their support.

The National After School Art and Craft Centre was established in 2005 by renowned Bahamian artist Maxwell Taylor to provide outstanding student artists an opportunity to hone their creative skills.
