STUDENT participants in this year’s E Clement Bethel National Arts Festival showcased their talents at the Shirley Street theatre yesterday.

Attended by Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Daniel Johnson as well as other senior government officials, the event took place as part of National Youth Month.

The festival is a competitive event that started in 1959 featuring music, dance, drama, and arts and craft.

It is designed to exhibit the creativity of Bahamian youth and showcase Bahamian culture.

During yesterday’s event, 25 student performances took place, including dance, drama, drum solos, Junkanoo music performances and piano solos. Students from New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco took part.

The competition element of the festival ended in South Andros on June 15. The festival has visited every island and next Thursday participants and competition winners will be honoured at Government House.
