Students all talk at annual High School Speech Competition

AN AUDITORIUM was filled with excitement as an audience listened intently to students presenting on the topic ‘how can we encourage the youth of the Bahamas to become leaders in quality service?’

It was The Customer First Associates’ ‘Sixth High School Speech Competition’, held last week at the Foster B. Pestaina Centre.

Students wowed the audience and the judges with their leadership talent and capabilities, as they revealed how they would improve the delivery of products and services.

The following students represented their schools: Clarissia Smith, St Paul’s Methodist College; Isaac Missick, St George’s High School; Philippa Edgecombe, Jack Hayward High School; T’Shera Adderley, Grand Bahama Catholic High School; Vashti Charlton, Eight Mile Rock High School.

Sandra Edgecombe, Deputy Director of Education Grand Bahama, brought remarks on behalf of Education Minister Jerome Fitzgerald, who was out of the country on official business.

The moderator was Deborah Pratt; scorekeeper Karenda Swain; timekeeper Maria Green.

The secretary of Customer First Associates, coaches, parents, audience members and judges all took time off from their busy schedule to support and attend the event.

The winners of the competition were:

First Place: T’Shera Adderley, Grand Bahama Catholic High School.

Second Place: Vashti Charlton, Eight Mile Rock High School.

Third Place: Clarissia C. Smith, St Paul’s Methodist College.
