A 22-year old man is in custody after police arrested him yesterday for murder, a stolen vehicle and an outstanding criminal warrant.
According to reports around 9pm on Sunday, Northeastern Division officers acting on information received went to the home of the suspect located on Poinciana Drive, where they arrested him for the following offences:
Murder of Ned Joseph that occurred on September 4, 2013; possession of a 2003 gold Honda Accord that was reported stolen on September 6, 2013 and an outstanding criminal warrant

Lets say you live in a village with 200 residents. Only one person in the village is known as a thief so when something goes missing all the villagers would approach this man. You may not always get your stolen chicken back, but a heap of fresh feathers in his garbage or backyard would confirm that your goose had been cooked. Now lets say another thief moves in the village. So now when something goes missing villagers would go to one thief and, more often than not he would blame the other thief. Hence the blame game. Then in moves a third criminal, not only is he is a thief, but he is also a liar. So not only does he steal from people, but he never confesses to his wrong doing and in many instances he tries to blame someone else for his crime. So not only does the villagers have to identify him as the culprit, but prove that he done it. WELCOME to the Bahamas 2013. For the past 10 years we have been releasing known criminals on the streets, simply because Amenisty International says its inhumane to keep accused persons locked up and their cases do not come to trial within a certain period of time. So among the many criminals we have roaming our streets are at least 400 persons accused of murder. Four HUNDRED persons who took lives, some more than one, and were never punished. And now the culture has grown such that many of these persons no longer fear punishment so they do not deny their crime, neither do they blame someone else for it. They just ride the system that allows them to enjoy the same freedom that everyone else does. And so we continue to collect bodies. Image what happens when we have one thousand murderers out on bail!!

iTS not amenisty international ,its our laws basically handed down from England ..The politicians could change the law tomorrow ,but realistically how long should you be allowed to hold anyone before trying them ?/ How about we get our judicial system in shape ,have you ever seen any judge start court before ten am,, I have giving up hope ,we are going backwards as a country ..

You left this door open so here goes. Your example proves how most police thinks in the Bahamas. When a 'chicken' goes missing, all happens is a known criminal is picked up. However being in procession of feathers belonging to a 'goose', the criminal is now able to take the legal system for a ride because evidence found is not relevant to the crime committed. Chicken missing + fresh feathers of a cooked goose = not a chicken thief
