URIAH McPhee Primary School is still closed and could be closed for the rest of the week.

Ministry of Education officials said over the weekend that the school would reopen today after classes were cancelled last Wednesday.

Teachers had refused to teach in the school, citing problems with mould and a faulty air conditioning system.

Director of Education Lionel Sands said this morning that the school could be closed for the rest of the week because "the remediation work being done there with respect to the mould" was not done to the Ministry's satisfaction.

He also said that while classes have resumed at Stephen Dillet Primary School, another issue with the air conditioning system has arisen, potentially forcing them to cancel classes again as efforts to address the issue are made.

Mr Sands said he will provide an update on the status of the schools later today.
