Voice of Deliverance celebrates 31 years of ministry

EVEN after 31 years, the goal of Voice of Deliverance Disciple Center to win the lost at all cost has not changed. The church is set to celebrate all the work they have done over the years to advance the message of the gospel.

Several events are slated for October 7—10 to commemorate the church’s anniversary and to reflect on how far it has come. The theme for the week long celebration is “Chosen and Anointed for the Assignment”.

Voice of Deliverance has been led from its inception by Apostle Leon Wallace, who had a vision about the church’s start.

“In the year 1975 during a time of fasting and praying, the lord appeared in a vision to Apostle Wallace, handing to him a letter bearing the name Voice of Deliverance Disciple Center. While still in the vision, he asked the lord the meaning of the name and in response the lord gave him these instructions: voice, meaning I liken you unto John the Baptist, a voice crying in the wilderness; disciple, meaning go and make followers; center, meaning a place where my people will gather for worship. It was not until the year 1981 that the lord returned to our general overseer with a replay of the above mentioned vision. From the vision, it was determined that a center should be established where God’s people could come freely to worship him,” said Abigail Kemp of Voice of Deliverance.

On October 31, 1992 the Voice of Deliverance Disciple Center came to fruition with only three members and held its first service in a building that only seated fifty persons. During this service lives were changed and the church’s membership increased.

Since its start Voice of Deliverance has been making an impact waves in the Bahamas and throughout the world. In 1985, another Voice of Deliverance was established in Sarasota, Florida. Churches have also been established as far as Nigeria, Africa, St. Catherine, Jamaica, and St Petersburg, Florida. Presently there are fifteen churches within the organisation.

The Voice of Deliverance dedicated its largest building in Nassau, Bahamas as its international headquarters on March 10, 1991.

The ministry also has its own recording studio which is able to reach the masses. Programs include “The Voice That Makes The Difference”, which is aired on ZNS TV 13 every Sunday at 9.30 am.

“This program has been aired consistently for the past 28 years and continues to encourage, inspire, uplift, motivate and bring deliverance to many souls throughout the Bahamas.

“Our motto, as members of the Voice of Deliverance is to win the lost at every cost, being mindful that we are doing this unto Jesus, as such, we pay all homage and veneration to our lord for continuous success. As we celebrate our 31st Annual General Assembly, the Voice of Deliverance family is truly determined to hold on, and we know that with Christ at the helm, more successful chapters will be added to our history,” Ms Kemp said.
