Chambers and Partners, the London-based legal services referral and ranking service, has given Graham Thompson & Company, a top ranking with a ‘BAND 1’ designation for its Bahamian and recently-opened Turks and Caicos Islands office.

Chambers Global editors, in their 2014 rankings of law firms and attorneys, said of the 60 year-old Bahamian practice: “This leading commercial firm remains at the cutting-edge of the banking and financial services sector in the Bahamas.

“The team has significant experience in financing, corporate restructuring and capital markets, and clients include major real estate developers and financial institutions. The firm’s broader expertise also includes labour law, trusts and civil litigation.”

Several of Graham Thompson’s partners received special mention, including former attorney general Sean McWeeney QC, who is “highly regarded for his knowledge of trusts” and commended for “his big-picture viewpoint, his greatest strength”.

Craig Roberts, Graham Thompson’s property and development group chairman, “has earned the respect of peers for his real estate practice, and his wide-ranging experience in this field includes major developments both in the Bahamas and abroad”.

Freeport-based litigator Robert Adams was descriobed as a “very good, thorough and well-rounded advocate who handles a variety of commercial and corporate disputes, as well as labour and employment matters”. Reviewers found him to be a “bright, hard worker, who really knows how to get results for his clients”.

Dana Wells, chairman of the firm’s banking and finance group, was said to be a “key member of the firm’s well-respected real estate team, and is also recognised for his strength in securities”.

Stephen Wilson QC, the partner who directs the firm’s’ Turks and Caicos Islands office, was described as a “highly regarded litigator who acts for clients on a broad range of disputes, including insolvency and employment matters.”
