BADC WORKSHOP

THE Bahamas Anti-Doping Commission (BADC) is scheduled to hold a meet-and-greet cocktail reception 7-9pm tonight at SuperClubs Breezes, Cable Beach. The event is a prelude to the BADC’s Anti-Doping Workshop slated for 8:30am to 3:30pm on Saturday at the resort.

The head coach from Florida Memorial College is expected to be in town this weekend with hopes of recruiting female volleyball players. If you are interested in obtaining a scholarship to play volleyball for the college, players are asked to show up at the DW Davis gymnasium at 5:30pm today.

WITH the creation of the sporting facilities at Her Majesty Prisons, Senator Greg Burrows is trying to find more ways for the public to interact with the in-mates. After a soft opening that saw the Freedom Farm Baseball League 18-and-under select team play an exhibition game and games continue ongoing, Burrows is stepping it up by having a special exhibition game 3pm Saturday when he and his political colleagues will team up to play against the inmates. “We want to show the public how serious we are trying to change the concept of the prison,” Burrows said. “We hope to have a good time.”

CHALLENGE

ON Saturday, April 12, the Rotary of East Nassau will join forces with the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association to host a Tennis Challenge at the National Tennis Centre on Saturday, April 12.

Benefits from the challenge will go to the National Tennis Centre and the many charities supported by the Rotary Club of East Nassau.

The RCEN is challenging all Rotary Clubs in the Bahamas to compete in a team tennis challenge to determine the best tennis club on the island.

There will be an “A” and “B” flight for the more competitive and beginner players respectively. All members are invited to come out and have some fun, get some exercise, enjoy food and drinks and win points toward your club winning bragging rights.

Even if you don’t play, please come out and support your team and enjoy fellowship.

Mixed doubles or same sex teams are also welcome. The hamburger van will be there and water, beer and drinks will be on sale. The entry fee is only $25, which includes one hamburger or hot dog and a drink.
