Police seek help over robberies

POLICE are asking for the public’s help in solving five robberies that took place on Saturday and Sunday.

The first incident took place around 1am on Saturday.

According to reports, a man was at the junction of Shirley and Fowler Streets when a group of men robbed him of cash before fleeing on foot.

About an hour later, police received reports that a man was sitting in his 2004 silver coloured Honda Inspire at the corner of Wilson Track and Wulff Road, when two men armed with a handgun robbed him of his vehicle and sped off.

In the third incident around 4am, police say two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed a drug store on Baillou Hill road of an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the area on foot.

About two hours later, around 6am, a man armed with a handgun robbed a wholesale store on Charles Vincent Street of cash and fled the area on foot.

In the final incident, around midnight on Sunday, two men armed with a handgun robbed four men who were playing a game of dominoes in front of a home on Sunset Park. The men took cash, jewellery and cell phones before fleeing the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or crime stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
