THE COMMUNITY of single women that makes up the new Single Sisters Network came together this past weekend to celebrate their first “Night Out With The Girls” event at the Trinity City of Praise courtyard and lounge.

The Single Sisters Network is a faith-based community that aims to encourage and inspire each member to embrace her “singlehood” by organising events that address issues concerning single women.

Necole Watson, the creator of the organisation, said the event’s purpose was also to provide spiritual counsel, healing, help and simple social connection for the women. She said it is their mission to promote godly wisdom and to inspire each other to live their best lives now.

“Singleness is a journey, one that will pass, one that some take more than once, but together we can make it a journey that we can embrace,” said Ms Watson.

As the office manager and senior administrator for Trinity City of Praise – her local church under the leadership of her parents Apostle Ed and Lee Watson – Ms Watson said she enjoys a variety of daily duties, including meeting new people locally and internationally, the challenge of multiple projects, but most of all getting the work done with excellence.

“I am a daughter of the soil, born here in New Providence, the place where God lives. I spent my junior and senior years at Kingsway Academy and later matriculated to Lincoln University where I attained a BA in Biology. I have been in this career field for about 15 years and I think my reasons were two-fold, although it’s an interesting story. Initially, I didn’t want to be an administrator. I wanted to be a doctor practicing medicine, but the will of God for my life had seen fit to take me down another path. It was an interesting one, and I found as I embraced the multi-tasker and organiser in me, my desires changed and administrating and managing became my life. Secondly, my parents are the pastors of TCP so it goes without saying that I wanted to assist them the best way I could, to ensure that their vision of building a local church was executed,” she said.

Ms Watson said there are several people who have influenced her, but the greatest impact was made by her parents as they taught her many valuable life lessons; the greatest being to never give up on her dreams.

Ms Watson said the idea to start the Single Sisters Network came from God and she is now fulfilling her purpose.

“I heard God speak to me and said I need you to teach the singles how to live a joyful, victorious and fulfilling lives during their season of singleness. I heard God, He gave me the idea, so I am fulfilling His assignment on my life; I am fulfilling my purpose,” she said.

Ms Watson said the overall goal for the network is to continue to teach the beauty and joy of singleness and promote godly decisions as they relate to singlehood.

“I see this organisation having a far reach, touching singles in the Family Islands and in the United States of America,” she said.

Ms Watson said the event last Friday was packed with single women from every walk of life. Each woman who attended was decked out in white.

“There was no ‘big me and little I’, but the air was filled with expectancy”, she said. New friendships were formed and people were able to share their hearts and their experiences.

“It is hard for women to be transparent, but on Friday night the walls came down and these women revealed themselves, unabashed, unashamedly. The launch exceeded my expectations. Through interactive blogging, seminars and a few socials we are hoping to educate women on social topics and provide avenues for expression. We are all about spiritual, academic and financial empowerment. The decisions single women make usually lay the foundation for the rest of their lives, that is why it’s so important to get this phase right. It’s not the season to be disgruntled and be in self-hate. No time for moaning about being companionless, but it’s really a time to work on you – the single woman,” said Ms Watson.
