Man in hospital after shooting

A MAN was in hospital last night after being shot in a midday incident yesterday.

Police said that the victim was walking on Key West Street shortly after noon when a red Lancer car with three men inside pulled up and shot him in the right thigh before speeding up.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.

• A 30–year-old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for importation of dangerous drugs at Lynden Pindling International Airport yesterday.

At about 1pm, Drug Enforcement Unit officers searched the suspect who had just arrived on a commercial airline from Panama and found 2.4 pounds of suspected cocaine, worth an estimated $16,000. Officers also seized $1,200, suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody.

• A 51–year-old Jamaican woman is in custody after she was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs yesterday. Shortly after 1:30pm, DEU officers searched a hotel room in downtown Nassau and found an orange bag containing 2.4 pounds of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $16,000. Officers also seized $765.26 from the woman, suspected to be the proceeds of dangerous drugs. The woman was taken into custody. The suspect also arrived on a commercial airline from Panama yesterday.

• Two Bahamian male pilots and a Canadian man will appear in court tomorrow at 11am to face a number of drug-related charges. The men were arrested at LPIA earlier this week.

• POLICE in North Eleuthera yesterday discovered a number of vehicles reported stolen from New Providence earlier this year.

One Honda vehicle was recovered in the Bluff and four Honda vehicles were recovered in Lower Bogue. All of the vehicles will be transported to New Providence.

• A 28-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are in custody after they were arrested for possession of dangerous drugs. On Tuesday evening, police officers searched a home in Whites Addition, where they uncovered a quantity of suspected drugs packaged for sale. The man and woman were taken into custody.

  • Police also arrested a 25-year-old man on Tuesday for possession of an imitation firearm, after a search of a home on Fowler Street. The man was taken into custody.

• A total of 21 further arrests have been made by police officers during operations - including eight for causing harm, three for steaing, three for outstanding court warrants, six for various traffic violations, one for house breaking, one for possession of dangerous drugs and two for receiving.

Wow that small country... the main island Nassau, with just a few thousand people is in the new daily with gunshots and murders. Why? Prior to your independence in 1973, that country was the gem...jewel of the world. Now it is a drug infested, gun shooting, murdering den of iniquity. Either the FNM clean that place up ASAP or Bahamas MUST and I underscore, MUST return to the Crown. That country is sliding further and further and further into THE pathetic and sad tragedy in the world.
