THE Bahamas Anti-Doping Commission (BADC) connected with the local sports fraternity in a fundamental way during its annual seminar over the weekend at SuperClubs Breezes Bahamas.

BADC chairman Dr Jerome Lightbourne, in a post analysis, expressed satisfaction with the cross-section of representatives.

“We did anticipate a larger number of attendees, but were satisfied with the fact that there was a great representation across the board. Federation leaders, quasi government representatives, those from the medical field, therapists, pharmacists, athletes, coaches, mentors from the educational system, and Inspector Eugene Strachan of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, all came out and the interaction was excellent.

“I want one thing most importantly and that is for you to not keep what you learned to yourselves but to spread the word,” said Dr Lightbourne as he gave closing remarks.

On hand to assist the BADC in enunciating the new World Anti-Doping Code and other relevant matters was Dr Adrian Lorde, the chairman of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation.

A meet-and-greet affair took place on Friday evening, prior to the full day seminar on Saturday.

The BADC invited partners in the battle for “Clean Sports” to take full advantage of the office situated atop the Betty Kelly-Kenning Swim Complex at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre. All of the data regarding anti-doping can be obtained at the office.
