AFTER capturing the Little Miss Bahamas title four years ago, a former beauty queen Angel Knowles is pursuing another dream.

Going by the stage name Angel K, she is now officially introducing herself as the newest Bahamian singer on the block.

Angel K has done multiple gigs, including a recent performance at the Fashion For A Cause event. She is eager to show Bahamians who she is and what her music is all about.

She said she got her start during the Little Miss Bahamas pageant in 2010.

Angel K told In Ya Ear that she sang for the pageant’s talent showcase.

“I kind of officially started when I became the overall title winner of Little Miss Bahamas for 2010/11. My talent was singing and it basically became something I liked doing. The crowd loved it and I enjoyed doing it, so I guess it only made sense to continue doing it,” she said.  

Angel K recently released the song “Turnt Up”, which is currently on rotation at the local radio stations. And while she has not released a mix tape or album yet, she said her upcoming music releases are promising.

“I currently have a song on the radio called ‘Turnt Up’. It is a party song collaboration with a local Bahamian rapper Sasha Dunn. I have another song that will be released soon. It is called ‘Island Luxury’. I did a soft debut of it when I performed at Fashion For a Cause. I have videos online of covers that I do,” she told In Ya Ear.

Since embarking on a musical career, Angel K said she has received tremendous support from her family and friends, who have all encouraged her to reach for the stars where her music is concerned.

“I am self-motivated, but my family really supports and motivates me. I am inspired by the simple things in life. My music so far has just been about having fun and embracing the simple joy of letting go and just being yourself. I think that is the best inspiration,” she said.

“I am most passionate about education and learning. I enjoy learning new things, whether it is school related or music or acting. I am just passionate about learning.”

Angel K said hard work is a must if she wants to obtain great success, which is the reason she spends much of her time developing her voice and musical portfolio.

Artists that have influenced her style include Rihanna, Cher Lloyd and Miley Cyrus, she said.
