Resorts World Bimini will open a Casino Training School on the island next month to recruit and train a steady influx of Bahamians in a variety of table games.

The facility, within the Resorts World Bimini (RWB) property and close to the casino, will offer new and refresher classes in roulette and craps as well as the card games baccarat, blackjack and various formats of poker.

Eleven Biminites were trained in Blackjack before the casino opening in June 2013 and a further four successfully completed an eight-week American Roulette course in March of this year. Now to celebrate the opening of the training school on May 2, a further 16 Biminites will undergo a Blackjack class with guarantees of employment for those who graduate.

A comprehensive training schedule has been mapped out for the remainder of 2014 and the original pioneers also will be given the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the casino industry by adding additional games to their forte.

An eight-week Craps class will start on May 5th, and classes in Roulette and Baccarat will follow thereafter.

“We are committed to providing not only employment, but genuine career opportunities for the island’s residents and our intent is to recruit and train a steady flow of dealers to prepare for when the jetty and the hotel are finished”, said RWB President Dana Leibovitz.

“Bimini is on the verge of becoming a year-round destination, and when it does we will be ready to welcome visitors around the clock. Exciting times are ahead for the island and its residents, and Resorts World is honoured to lead the way in this development.”

By November, Resorts World Bimini will have around 30 Biminite dealers, each skilled in at least two casino games. This will represent approximately 50 per cent of the Resort’s total dealing staff.

Resorts World Bimini is operated by the Genting Group, a global company, founded in 1965, and the world’s largest Destination Resorts operator. Genting has Resorts World-branded properties in Asia, Europe, North America and on all four oceans through 43 per cent ownership of Norwegian Cruise Line and Star Cruises brands. The company has a combined market capitalization of $45 billion and employs more than 50,000 people worldwide.

Several of the other resorts on the island already are "year round destinations," just not Resorts World.

The only thing they are leading in is unsustainable, reckless development.
