Sailing to success at Family Island Regatta

EXUMA was the venue for the 61st National Family Island Regatta over the weekend, with sailors and spectators flocking to the event.

The ships battled it out on the waters off George Town, with Tida Wave emerging as the Class A champions.

Lady Sonia was the winner of the Class B category, while Whitty K claimed the title in the Class C category.

The awards were presented on Saturday night, with Prime Minister Perry Christie in attendance to deliver the keynote address and present the Prime Minister’s Cup to the Class A winner.

Also present were the Governor General, Sir Arthur Foulkes, who presented the Governor General’s Cup to Jeff Gale, from the Lonesome Dove.

Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe and Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government Minister Alfred Gray were also in attendance.
