A MAN accused of the country’s 37th murder for 2014 has said he would submit an alibi to the Attorney General’s office in 21 days.

Jason Simmons, 18, of Thompson Lane appeared before Magistrate’s Court yesterday for a Voluntary Bill of Indictment presentation that would fast-track his case to the Supreme Court for trial. The case is in connection with the fatal shooting of Neko Lloyd.

Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt informed him of what the Bill contained and his right to enter an alibi in court or in 21 days to the Attorney General’s office.

The 18-year-old chose the latter and is now scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court before Senior Justice Jon Isaacs to receive a date for trial.

He faces a single charge of murder that he is alleged to have committed on April 27 at Gibbs Corner.

Shortly after midnight, Lloyd was sitting on a bench near a woman friend’s home when a gunman approached him and opened fire. Llyod was hit several times in his stomach and chest.

While the gunman fled on foot, Lloyd ran to the front of his friend’s home where he collapsed. A short time later, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Simmons will be allowed to enter a plea to the murder charge in his Supreme Court appearance on September 19.
