A 44-year-old man became the country’s latest murder victim after he was shot several times in front of his home on Wednesday night.

The homicide happened around 8:40pm off Nassau Street.

Police say they received a call that gunshots were heard through McQuay Street. When they arrived, they saw the victim lying in the street in a pool of blood, with multiple gunshot wounds in his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Initial reports indicate that the victim pulled into his residence and was getting out of the car, when he was approached by a man who shot him several times before fleeing the area on foot.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but The Tribune understands he is Edward Taylor also known as “Sin” of Bacardi Road.

Taylor was wanted by police in 2012 for the murder of 27-year-old Delroy Jerome Daxon of Cowpen Road.

Daxon, who was an employee of the Bahamas Electricity Corporation, was murdered in front of Oasis Restaurant and Lounge on Adelaide Road in January, 2012.

Hours after his death police issued a wanted bulletin for Taylor.

Taylor’s killing came about a week after Ryan Smith, also known as “Sniper”, was shot in his head. Smith was suspected of killing two women last week in separate shooting incidents. He was killed on August 11 and was the fifth murder victim in less than two days.

Anyone with information about Taylor’s murder is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central, Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Investigations continue.

He was wanted by police since 2012 yet the criminals were able to find and kill him before the police? Are they better at finding criminals than the police?...maybe we should second some of these "investgators" to the force.
