BICA appoints chief executive

The Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) has appointed Shavardo Thompson (pictured) as its chief executive.

He will be responsible for building relationships with industry regulators, as well as regional and international regulatory bodies, such as The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC) and The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Mr Thompson will also be responsible for BICA’s daily operations. These responsibilities include capacity building, amending policies and procedures, and management of BICA’s IFAC action plan with regard to Statements of Membership Obligations.

BICA is the regulatory body for the Bahamian accounting profession. It is comprised of more than 500 members and 250 licensees.
