National Back-to-School Prayer

The first day of school is the day that marks the unofficial end of summer. We all know it well by the back-to-back traffic on the streets and the masses of children dressed in uniforms on their way to school. Some schools have already reopened, but on September 1, the majority of the schools will open their doors to thousands of students for the new school year.

And for this the Trinity City of Praise is praying.

“Our educational system – made up of students, parents, teachers, counsellors, social workers, principals, administrators and educational staff members – impacts every part of our society, and for this reason we must

pray,” the church said in an official statement.

“We pray in simple obedience to the Word of God that says:, ‘I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.’(1 Tim. 2:1-2, NIV) We must pray against violence, bullying, crime, fear, disunity and lack in our schools. For the church, the best strategy to combat such issues is prayer. For we believe that ‘the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results’ (James 5:16, NLT).”

This Saturday at 6am,

all are invited to unite with the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto, the Prayer Ministry of Trinity City of Praise and the Student Christian Movement (SCM) to pray for the nation’s educational system.

Founders of the Prayer Grotto and senior pastors of Trinity City of Praise, Apostle Ed and Prophetess Lee Watson, along with Rev Diana Francis, Pastor-Elect of First Baptist Church and National President of the Student Christian Movement, will lead four prayer teams.

The teams will meet at the following government schools, which stand as representatives for all of the schools in the Bahamas: East – Doris Johnson Senior High School; West - Government High School; North - C R Walker Senior High School; South - C V Bethel Senior High.

“We will pray for prevailing peace, hope, love, excellence, success, provision and the spirit of unity in our schools. We will pray for the Bahamas Union of Teachers. Prayers will also be released for Jerome Fitzgerald, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, and his staff,” Trinity City of Praise said. “Let’s unite as one to pray for our nation’s schools. Our prayers will make the difference.”
