PHENTON Neymour, former State Minister for the Environment, said yesterday the “government has shown weakness” by reappointing Tall Pines MP Leslie Miller as executive chairman of the Bahamas Electricity Corporation.

Speaking with The Big T, Mr Neymour said the reappointment proves that the PLP is not ready to make the necessary changes so that BEC can move to the next level.

His comments came after Tribune sources revealed that Mr Miller kept his position despite rumours that he was being replaced because of “pressure from the union.”

Mr Neymour said Mr Miller should also be ashamed that he is still chairman of a corporation to which he still owes tens of thousands of dollars.

“The PLP has once again demonstrated weakness. They have shown that they do not make the necessary changes the Bahamian people demand and they do not maintain a standard of leadership the people expect,” he said.

“I cannot understand how they can reappoint Leslie Miller when his light bill can fuel the BEC power plant for days. He is turning off people for $1,000, but he owes thousands. How can Mr Miller, a man who owes BEC thousands, stay there. He must have no shame. He had no shame to pay that bill in cash and in fact the PLP has no shame in renaming him.”

Mr Neymour also claimed that Mr Miller was not truthful when he said he had decreased electricity bills by 20 per cent. In fact, said Mr Neymour, electricity bills were lower under the FNM.

“If you look at your bills from December of 2012,” he said, “you will see the fuel surcharge was 26 cents. After the PLP won, it was increased up to 29 cents, which went against their election promise. This month BEC is expected to exceed what the FNM has in place to between 27 and 28 cents for fuel surcharge. It increased after the PLP and is still the same even after a 10 per cent reduction in duty.

“So, in fact rates at BEC have increased since the FNM left government.”

Phenton Neymour only jealous because the unions took advantage of him and not Leslie Miller. The unions only want more money from slackness.

So let me get this straight.... Mr Neymour is claiming that "they (the PLP) have shown that they do not make the necessary changes the Bahamian people demand and they do not maintain a standard of leadership the people expect??"

Is he serious??? Maybe Mr Neymour has forgotten that the FNM government did not meet the people's demands either!!! The people demanded that they (the FNM) didn't reroute the direction of traffic throughout the island!!! The people demanded that they (the FNM) didn't sell BTC!!! The people also demanded that they (the FNM) create more job opportunities for Bahamians rather than foreigners!!! And guess what..... the FNM didn't make any changes either!!!! As horrible a government that the PLP is.... the entire reason that they are in power is because of Hubert Ingraham and the FNM!!! So just shut the hell up Mr Neymour!! HAI didn't meet our leadership demands either!! And then to make matters worst, in a spit of rage, arrogance and pride, he abruptly abandoned and abdicated his position as leader and MP for Abaco!!! The very same people in Abaco he promised to support only hours earlier!!! All in an effort to circumvent his embarrassment and hurt ego. Where is the leadership in that??? Mr Neymour can't be serious!!

I whole heartedly agree with the previous comments, Neymour and Ingraham have shamed many FNM's in the way they conducted themselves. It was past time for them to go and it is now even later for the PLP and that bunch of inept crooks.

Can someone PLEASE send a memo to the PLP letting them know HAI is no longer in government and never ever will be.....

Time to focus on what the people hired them to do......

PHENTON Neymour, former State Minister for the Environment had absolutely nothing to say when PAPA the little naked emperor gave away BTC and $400M to foreign road builders while qualified Bahamians starved.

Now this big idiot has the heart to surface out of nowhere talking about PLP "weakness"..???....WTF????

Go back to hell and STFU PHENTON! You had your opportunity and BLEW IT!

YOU & the rest of Ingrahams jelly belly group of dumb clowns quietly followed "PAPA" to the end of your short butt kissing political carriers.

We don't want to hear from you Loretta, Lang, Minnis or anyone else that crashed and burned kissing Huberts backside.

No question the PLP sucks. But you had NO VOICE then and have NO VOICE NOW.

S>>>>>>T>>>>F>>>>>U!
