MOBILE Division officers found a high-powered assault rifle in the St Andrew’s Beach Estate area underneath a tree on Saturday around 7pm, but no arrests were made.
Police also said that two men, aged 22 and 21, were arrested on Friday for possession of an illegal handgun and ammunition. Police searched the men at Dunmore Street shortly after 10pm. The pair are expected to be charged early this week, according to reports.
Police also arrested seven people for various offences over the weekend as a result of saturation patrols.
