SIR Ronald Sanders took up his duties in London today as High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda to the Court of St James’s.
He said that it was a privilege to return to London in the context of trying to help the new government of Antigua and Barbuda re-establish a strong diplomatic service.
“I am also looking forward to contributing to the enhancement of relations between the UK and the wider Caribbean as I did in the past through the establishment of the UK-Caribbean Forum and the now defunct transmission mechanism by which the two sides had sought to advance each others interests in organisations in which one or the other is a member,” he said. “This posting also provides an opportunity to contribute to making the 53-nation Commonwealth a more effective and relevant association, both to its member states and the global community in keeping with many of the recommendations of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group of which I was a member and rapporteur in 2010-2011.”
