Munroe funeral will be open to the public

THE state-recognised funeral for Dr Myles Munroe and his wife Ruth will be open to the public, a statement from the organisers said.

Last week, the Cabinet Office announced that the service would be a state recognised funeral to be held at Bahamas Faith Ministries International’s Diplomat Centre on Carmichael Road at 10am.

“The funeral will be open to the general public to attend, however there will be reserved seating for the family, senior government officials, Bahamas Faith Ministries members as well as local and international dignitaries.

“The general public is to be advised that there will be no invitations needed to attend the funeral as previously stated,” the statement said.

Special seating and tents will be provided on the church grounds for members of the public.

The bodies of Dr Munroe and his wife will lie in repose at the Diplomat Centre on Wednesday from noon to 5pm.

However, a private ceremony will be held from 10am to noon with members of the family and senior government officials.

Members of the public are invited to pay their respects beginning at noon to 5pm and are welcomed to sign the book of condolence. There will be no public viewing.

A national memorial for the couple will be held on Wednesday at The Thomas A Robinson Stadium. The event is scheduled to start at 6pm with doors open for seating at 5pm.

The event is open to the public and no admission or invitations are needed to attend.

I just want to hear the list of Bahamian speakers lined up to give remarks about the dead prophet .................. especially the pastors and politicians who despised him in his lifetime.

Comrades I am completely confused. What exactly are they telling the public. If there is no public attendance, there can’t be a State funeral, even if its only being classified as a State “Recognized funeral," unless it is going to be held as a public event, meaning reserved seating must be set aside for the public to attend. With no exceptions permitted. Of course anyone is entitled have a pre private service for family and friends. But when you are opening your private service up to members of the government and politicians, I just don't see how you can still then say you will be holding public viewing after private service have concluded? How does the after viewing, or whatever public gig you're planning, then become a State Recognized funeral? On lighter side, love see how funeral's ushers will be seating the members of government and politicians, according to their protocol true feelings for some Dr. Myles political statements? I guess da PM and some his cabinet members according that kind protocol, go'in be ushered be seated, all way in distant back Diplomatic room.

As in life, surrounded by political controversy.

Carmichael Road will be closed from Faith Avenue to Blue Hill Road 7:30 am - 4pm on Thursday December 4th, due to the home going service of Dr. Myles Munroe

I think Dr. Munroe would also agree with your statement. Would he want the public to be inconvenienced? I doubt it very much.

There are state funerals and State-recognised funerals, I am not sure what is the difference. Never the less, I am sure Dr. Miles would be pleased. There is no harm in it at all.

Comrade a State Recognized Funeral is when you're placed in Political Purgatory. Where the PLP Cabinet places you for your imperfect loyalty to PLP governance, doctrine and policies. You is sent there give you sufficient grace period learn change ya political ways. I tell you it will be pretty damn hard spot real emotional sincerity, coming from some them Comrades who be's sitting in section "reserved for government officials and poliicans at Diplomatic Center. More like a State Recognized event for TV cameras capture a whole bunch of well known political hypocrites, all gathered in name of the state.

ROAD CLOSURE

From 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 3, 2014 the following Streets will be closed until after the Memorial Service:-

 Bahamas Games Boulevard - between Yellow Elder Way and Moss Road.  Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre Road - between Thompson Boulevard and Thomas A. Robinson Stadium.

From at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday December 4, 2014 the following Streets will be closed until after the Funeral Service:-

• Carmichael Road between Mermaid Boulevard east and Mermaid Boulevard west

TRAFFIC DIVERSION

During the closure of Carmichael Road traffic will be diverted south along Mermaid Boulevard east to Golden Gates Strait, west along Golden Gates Strait to Mermaid Boulevard west, west along Mermaid Boulevard to Carmichael Road. Where necessary, traffic will be diverted along Fire Trail Road, Allen Drive and Faith Avenue; the public is asked to plan alternative routes to avoid any disruption, from the in place traffic management, during the length of the service at the church and cemetery.

During the procession from the church vehicular traffic travelling along Carmichael Road, Faith Avenue North and South, Sir Milo Butler Highway, Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, John F. Kennedy Drive and Gladstone Road will be diverted onto side streets for proper traffic management.

NO PARKING

From 6:00 a.m. on Thursday December 4, 2014 until after the church service no vehicles will be permitted to park along the following streets:-

 Carmichael Road between Mermaid Boulevard East and West -
- Both Sides-
 Sir Milo Butler Highway between Carmichael Road and Tonique Williams-Darling Highway - Both Sides

 Tonique Williams-Darling between Sir Milo Butler Highway and John F. Kennedy Drive - Both Sides

 John F. Kennedy Drive between Tonique Williams-Darling Highway and Gladstone Road - Both Sides

 Gladstone Road between Bahamas Waste and J.F. Kennedy Drive -Both Sides

PARKING Parking will be permitted for persons attending the service at the following venues located on Carmichael Road:-  parking lot of Bahamas Christian Fellowship Centre  St. Gregory's Anglican Church  Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries.  the parking lot of South West Cathedral,  Cousin McPhee Cathedral

Buses will be used to transport persons from the mentioned location to the church every 15 minutes. Parking on the church grounds are for reserved vehicles only.

He got rich selling books ......... Bahamians dont read, so Bahamians wont appreciate him.............. thats why many have the negative reaction to him. Just listen to the international tributes to Myles today and tomorrow and then reflect on whta we had that we didnot know we had............ the Bible says "dont throw your pearls to swine". Myles pearls were shared with the world and the "swine" got none.................... SIGH

Comrades think first OK. The reason a press release was issued stating the funeral service would be open to the public, may have something to do with fact Dr. Myles has now been granted the lower level 3 State Recognized funeral. You wouldn't have had to make a press release, if your previous PR made before the government's announcement was made, hadn't stated to the contrary?
