Minister says Grand Bahama has weathered the worst

SIX graduates from a Spanish for Tourism language course in Freeport last week heard Minister for Grand Bahama, Dr Michael Darville, strike an optimistic economic note as he told them that the island has “weathered the worst part of the storm and brighter days lie ahead”.

Dr Darville pointed out that he had read a year ago that by 2020, due to natural human migration, “it would be difficult to function in this part of the world without speaking Spanish. As a matter of fact, we all have experienced this in Miami,” he said.

The course, sponsored by the Ministry for Grand Bahama and the College of The Bahamas, is designed to improve the quality of service provided to Spanish-speaking visitors to Grand Bahama.

“We are ready and willing to do our part and encourage more Grand Bahamians working in the industrial sectors, transportation industry and tourism sectors to capitalise on this wonderful opportunity that is being offered free of charge by the government through my ministry,” Dr Darvile told the graduates - Samantha Chatley, Donraria Duncombe, James Kemp, Raquel Lightbourne, Willis Outten, and Joyceleyn Thomas. “You are evidence of the demand for such a course in the community and because of the overall success and outcome of the combined effort from the Ministry of Education, the Freeport City Council and the College of The Bahamas, we will launch a similar course early next year.”

Potnetial students for the course will be targeted in transportation, the Taxi Union, government agencies, Department of Customs, Ministry of Tourism, Department of Road Traffic, Department of Immigration and the Ministry for Grand Bahama. “I am excited [with] the direction Grand Bahama is heading and from where I sit I can safely say that we have weathered the worst part of the storm and brighter days lie ahead,” Dr Darville said.

How these ministers can face themselves in a mirror is beyond me, Unless he is referring to his own fortunes reversing courtesy of Political connection and position. His Government has the opportunity to reverse things, but where is any effort in that direction indicated? VAT? They are still changing their damned minds daily on how that is going to work, or not work.

Comrades I'm good at just making stuff up but why even bother when Comrade Dr. Michael writes it for me. Like I say you can't make this stuff up. When do Freeporter's learn talkie El español? I thought you'd never ask. When the PLP government has nothing more left in their pool of ideas than offer classes in El español To Freeporter's this is akin all them turning to da teachings Jesus, after da rupture.

miami happened because of 'natural human migration'?

You mean, fidel stole property and exiled his fellow citizens, is that 'natural human migration"?

due to 'natural human migration', they should offer creole classes too.

Let Comrade Tal preach donkey.. Comrades best way I can spell out why this PLP cabinet and a FNM cabinet are identical, would be for me to describe them in a kind of biblical sense. Both the PLP and FNM cabinets, aren’t like just bad one day when it comes dealing with affairs of Freeport and good on another. Da two them is repetitiously pretty damn bad, when it comes to their habitual absence at governing Freeport. Comrades surly, if da Lord Jesus opened a donkey's mouth taught it how speak, and it said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times, is it not a fair question to ask in plain English, why has no PLP or FNM PM or Cabinet ever spoken up in all their many years to answer the many urgent pleas for help from Freeporter’s, who like donkey in bible asks, “what makes you keep beating us down in your three last administrations?

The PLP Government should not lead Michael darville down this path like this ......... he should do the next best thing and return to the private sector like Ryan Pinder ...... along with a couple more like Perry Gomez, Khaalis Rolle, Jerome Fitzgerald and the other Gomez
