MINISTER of State for Investments Khaalis Rolle said yesterday that he was unaware of being a possible replacement for Financial Services Minister Ryan Pinder, who resigned this week, but would “serve whatever the prime minister requests me to serve”.
The Pinewood MP, along with Environment Minister Kenred Dorsett and State Minister for Legal Affairs Damian Gomez, are believed to be the three possible replacements for Mr Pinder’s former post.
However, according to sources in the Christie administration, Mr Rolle was said to have no interest in leading the Ministry of Financial Services.
He has reportedly voiced concerns that the new appointment would disrupt his ongoing work with the National Development Plan, which he spearheads.
Meanwhile Mr Pinder would only tell The Big T that he made recommendations to Prime Minister Perry Christie, but he declined to disclose those suggestions.
Mr Pinder said his recommendations were made in a private conversation between himself and the prime minister.
When questioned about the issue yesterday, Mr Rolle said: “I haven’t heard anything. I don’t know that that is in fact the case, but I serve whatever the prime minister requests me to serve. I’m a part of the Cabinet and if he wants to place me in a particular position I will go where the prime minister directs me.”
Mr Pinder’s resignation, which was confirmed on Tuesday night, will take effect at the end of this month. He is expected to become Deltec Bank’s new chief legal officer, head of wealth management and a member of the bank’s executive committee.

Ryan "Sarah Palin" Pinder certainly created no wealth for The Bahamas while he was in Cabinet. Perhaps he will be more proficient in "managing" wealth. He has proved he is keen on improving his own wealth.

LOL...This is what Christie does to all of his puppets no matter how much it hurts them. Wendy Craigg is still crying "Ouch, ouch!" over the serious bend-over she has done for Christie in leaving wannabe bankers Paul McWeeney and Richard Demeritte at the helm of Bank of The Bahamas. The only one who truly likes Christie these days is Freddy Boy Mitchell who can take anything Christie shoves his way!
