A word to the wise

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I would appreciate the opportunity to express some concerns as a Bahamian Senior Citizen under the theme: A Word to the wise is Sufficient.

1) Throughout history from Bible times whenever a nation forgets God and forms an alliance with pagan nations the next generation suffers the consequences. Take a look, there is a serious spread in our nation where Bahamians are not owning food stores, restaurants and other businesses in our country. We are selling our God given inheritance every day we have allowed what happened to Esau to happen to us. Our grandchildren will wake up one day and wonder what type of grandparents did this to them. Read 2 Chronicles 20:35-37 there is a reason for a stronghold in the Bahamas by these people and it is not because they really care about us.

2) Whenever an election is won the elected government and the people will declare that the voice of the people is the voice of God, God spoke through the people with a resounding no to gambling, but this was not received. It is God who brought us from a fishing village to an independent prosperous nation and who can continue to provide for us. This gambling scheme is evil, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Children will be affected, parents trying to win only loose, children will not have lunch, uniform, or textbooks. There will be added burden on Social Services, wake up Bahamas gambling is evil, read Psalms 15, as a christian nation we have missed the mark, the word usury in Psalms means to spend a little to gain much. If we want to stand in the presence of God we cannot take bribes, it produces corruption of the highest order with no respect of who is involved.

3) There is quietness amongst a group of persons who once was voicing a concern about their rights. Is there a loophole in the now discussed referendum that can be used by this group of persons in the future of this country. There is a need to examine with a fine tooth comb this referendum before making a final decision without considering the consequences that will affect the future of this nation.
