Festive time at Parliament

PARLIAMENTARIANS enjoyed their annual Christmas luncheon at the Hilton on Wednesday following the last sitting of Parliament for the year.

Prime Minister Perry Christie and Leader of the Opposition Dr Hubert Minnis brought Christmas greetings. The event commenced with an opening prayer delivered by House of Assembly Chaplain, Pastor Hugh Roach.

Senator Michael Pintard served as master of ceremonies, and President of the Senate Sharon Wilson delivered welcome remarks.

During the traditional Christmas buffet, a few of the parliamentarians provided musical entertainment – Minister of Social Services Melanie Griffin serenaded her colleagues with Christmas carols; Minister of Agriculture V Alfred Gray played the guitar; and Minister of Labour and National Insurance Shane Gibson played drums. Member of Parliament for Montagu Richard Lightbourn entertained with lively anecdotes and stories.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Dr Kendal Major delivered the closing remarks, and the luncheon officially ended with a prayer delivered by the Chaplain of the Senate, Bishop Gilbert Thompson.
