Man killed in hit-and-run identified

A MAN who was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident has been identified as 45-year-old Angelo Thurston, of Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Thurston was struck down around 7pm on Tuesday at the intersection of Pioneer’s Way and Columbus Drive. He was taken to hospital, where he died on Wednesday.

The vehicle involved, a white Ford Escort car, licence unknown, failed to stop at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them with their investigation to call , 919, 352-6625 or 352-6626.

Police have arrested a 43-year-old man after a quantity of illegal drugs was allegedly discovered at an apartment in Freeport.

According to police reports, Drug Enforcement Unit officers executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Coral Gardens area. They discovered and seized 5.5lbs of suspected marijuana inside a bedroom closet. The male occupant was taken into custody accused of possession of dangerous drugs.
