Cleanliness next to Godliness

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Season’s Greetings Bahamas.

Once again we approached the end of yet another year and what a joy to be alive.

Counting our blessings and without a doubt, how blessed we are as a people, while there have been many tragedies and especially impacting the church, prompting many to ask, why? There are some things that were designed by God, not for humans to know, why he God allowed it, or them.

But what I do know and evidenced from the Bible is this, that sometimes, God permits some things, so that other things can take place, when he is finished with that, he has this.

My reminder to the country is that God does all things well, so going into the year 2015 let us approach it as a hopeful people, looking unto our heavenly father, the author and finisher of our faith, remaining steadfast to the call and to the ways of God, our saviour, provider, protector and help in the time of trouble.

Editor, this morning I had a reason to travel along Bay Street beginning at George Street and what I saw at that intersection, stirred my inner-being so much so that a complaint was lodged with the ministry of tourism’s receptionist at the commerce building-British Colonial Hilton-Navy Lyon Road, who promised to pass it on to their personnel responsible for Bay Street.

What I found was an area outside of Bonneville bones unacceptably filthy and at the route # 10, or Cable Beach stop, I mean all of those tourists had to walk in that mess and pass that disgraceful garbage container, not fair to our visitors.

Further up the street, in the area of Charlotte and Bay Streets, northern side, the same story involving the garbage area.

How difficult can it be to keep that area cleaned, say twice a day by the attending personnel, be they from the environmental health department or sub-contracted, but one thing is certain and that is that we owe it not only to our visitors to give them a decent product, but the good name of our country remains on the line.

If those people hired to perform these specific chores are failing in that department, then replacements will be in order, as a people we must demand more, hold people to account, more, and to tolerate less, in a country nowadays, where anything seems to be all right.

One other point and since we are about to put on the Junkanoo parades, I wonder if the relevant authority would ensure that that entire parade route is steam cleaned, I wonder?

Thank you Editor.  Happy holidays Bahamas.
