Clarification on Orchid Bay

Tribune Business reported on Tuesday, February 5, that James Gomez, the Grant Thornton managing partner, was removed as receiver of Orchid Bay by a mid-January Supreme Court Order from Justice Stephen Isaacs. It also reported that he was trying to be “reinstated” as such.

The correct position is that while the Supreme Court’s Order removed Mr Gomez and his receivership team from the physical property at Orchid Bay, it still leaves him as the receiver for 100 per cent of the shares in Great Guana Cay (Abaco) Development Company, the project’s parent entity.

Mr Gomez is thus seeking an Order that would return him in charge of Orchid Bay’s real estate and physical assets.
