NPVA PLAYOFFS

THE New Providence Volleyball Association’s best-of-three playoffs got started at the DW Davis Gymnasium Wednesday night.

In the first series of matches, the Scottsdale Vixens defeated the Lady Techs in straight sets 25-18, 25-15 and 25-21. Melinda Bastian led all scorers with 17 points (12 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces) and Laval Sands assisted with three aces and 24 assists.

In the loss, Sharon Whylly led the Lady Techs with five points and Melissa Richards 18 assists.

In men’s action, the Technicians, behind Muller Petit?’s 18 points, overcame the Warriors in five tough sets 25-19, 15-25, 25-20, 28-30 and 15-12. Petit was joined by Eric Johnson’s 13 kills and two blocks and 52 assists from Renaldo Knowles.

In the loss, Prince Wilson led all scorers with 23 points. He was joined by Jon Isaacs with 14 points and Andreadie McPhee’s 30 assists.

The playoffs are scheduled to continue on Friday with the following matches:

9pm - Scotiabank Defenders vs PASSE

NPBA ACTION

THE Island Luck Pros and Mail Boat Cybots were victorious as the New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular season at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Pros 98, Marines 74

Stephen Miller came up with a game high 23 points and eight rebounds to pace Island Luck to victory. Livingstone Munnings had 21 points and six rebounds, Lorenzo Carter had 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Adorn Charlow had 14 points and 16 rebounds and Derek Ferguson chipped in with 10 points.

In the loss, Kenrio Ingraham had 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Defence Force. Otis Ferguson had 16 points, four rebounds and two assists and Elvardo Burrows had 10 points and six assists.

Cybots 88, PJCS 81

Eugene Bain exploded for a game high 21 points and 13 rebounds to push the Mail Boat to victory. David Taylor had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Mitchel Bain connected on 11 points with four rebounds.

For PJCS, Able Joseph had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Jason Mitchell had 14 points and five rebounds, Randy Williams had 13 points and Ian Pinder contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

The NPBA is scheduled to continue its regular season tonight with another double header, starting at 7:30pm. A double header is also slated for Saturday night at the same time.
