Man, 36, is shot dead

A 36-year-old man is dead after he was shot in the chest late last night.

It happened around 7.30pm at Winders Terrace. According to reports, the man, who sources identify as Charles Pandy, was sitting in his yard when he was approached by a man who pulled out a handgun and shot him several times in the chest.

Pandy attempted ran into the neighbour’s yard for help but collapsed. The shooter ran on foot in an unknown direction.

Pandy was taken to hospital by his family and friends in a private vehicle but was pronounced dead at 8.30pm

He was said to be well known to police and was previously charged with murder and armed robbery. Both cases were dropped however, after witnesses failed to appear in court.

Anyone with information on this murder is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991.

Police are also investigating a late night shooting that left two men in hospital.

It happened around 8.40pm at Apple Street.

Police say a group of five men were sitting at a residence when a small white car approached them. A man exited the vehicle, armed with a handgun, and shot at the group of men.

A 25-year-old man was hit twice in the leg and a 20-year-old man was also shot in the leg.

They were both taken to hospital by ambulance where their condition is unknown.

Investigations into both matters are continuing.
